Our first 10 “Hydrons”, which will replace the old fleet of E80 Rampini, will circulate on the streets of the Austrian capital starting from June 2025, thus contributing to the decarbonisation process of Vienna's public transport, which has always been a pioneer and at the forefront in terms of environmental sustainability.
The “Hydrons”, which work under the Fuel Cell - Range Extender regime, will cover the very central lines 2A and 3A within the Wiener "Inner Stadt".
In the future, public transport operated by Wiener Linien will be even more flexible within the historic city center of Vienna, which will use not only electric buses but also innovative hydrogen buses.
The new “Hydrons” will be refueled and recharged at an H2 refueling and charging station operated by Wien Energie and Wiener Netze, which uses green hydrogen produced on site in Vienna.
Thanks to the innovative technology of the RAMPINI HYDRON and its flexible energy management system, Wiener Linien will also be able to maintain its flexibility by being able to manage any need for change.
