Marburg's first electric buses

On Friday 5 March, with a spectacular backdrop of coloured lights and music, Marburg's public services company presented the E80, one of two buses supplied to the German town.

Holger Armbrüster and Dr. Bernhard Müller, the managing directors of Stadtwerke, explained that the e-bus will be used on route 10 of the Schlossroute, as it is very suitable due to its manoeuvrability and size.

The second bus will run on the streets of Marburg from spring onwards.

Mayor and chairman of the supervisory board, Dr. Spies, emphasises the importance of electric buses for Marburg: "We are opening a new chapter in the city's local public transport, which is to become CO2-neutral by 2030".

While Dr. Müller adds: "The two electric buses avoid around 110 tonnes of CO2 per year in the upper city of Marburg. (...) Furthermore, following a test of the E80 carried out in 2019, it showed that the bus can cope optimally with even the 115 m altitude of the upper city and reaches 150/h even when using air conditioning or heating. This means that Rampini's E80 is suitable as a replacement for the natural gas bus that has been running on the same route so far.
